Your answers are yours.
This page says what we collect, why, where it lives, who can see it, and how to delete it. No legal fog. Last updated September 4, 2026.
What we collect
See Your Line. Your answers to 24 statements, your three gift picks, your role, your company size band, a revenue band if you give one, one line about what you can't crack, your first name and your email. If you arrived from a keynote or a partner link, the link's code is stored with your attempt so the host can be told how many people took it. Never who.
Forms. Whatever you put in a form: a Clarity Call application, a Chieftains request, a speaking inquiry, a guest pitch, a contact message.
The letter. Your email and, if you give it, your first name.
Analytics. Page views, counted by Plausible, which sets no cookies and stores no personal data. We see that a page was read, not who read it.
Not collected. No passwords (the Review will sign you in by email link), no payment details on this site, no tracking pixels, no ad networks.
Why
- To score your line and email you the report you asked for.
- To reply to your application, request or message.
- To send you the weekly letter, if you ticked the box.
- To let Dermot see, in aggregate, where leaders sit on the line. Never by name in anything published.
- To keep the site working and stop abuse (a short-lived rate limit keyed on your connection, not stored).
Where it lives
Your data is held by a small number of providers who process it on our instructions and nobody else's:
- Supabase (Postgres database) holds attempts, applications and subscribers. Access is restricted to the site's server and to Dermot's team.
- Resend delivers transactional email such as your results.
- Beehiiv sends the weekly letter and keeps your subscription.
- Vercel hosts the site.
- A CRM receives applications and requests so a human can reply.
The database region and the CRM are named here before launch.
[CONFIRM] Supabase region (EU or US). [CONFIRM] CRM name (Airtable or Attio). If US, add the EU transfer clause counsel approves.Who can see it
Dermot Buffini and the small team that runs this site. Nobody sells your data. Nobody shares it with sponsors, partners, or event hosts. A keynote host with a custom link sees a count of completions, never a name or an answer, unless you choose to share your results with them yourself.
What is said at a Chieftains table is not recorded, and is not on this site.
How long we keep it
Your See Your Line attempt stays until you delete it, so your results link keeps working. Letter subscriptions last until you unsubscribe, which every issue lets you do in one click. Applications and inquiries are kept for two years after the last contact, then removed.
[CONFIRM retention periods with counsel.]Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask to see what we hold about you, correct it, receive a copy, or have it deleted. If you are in the EU, the UK or California, the law names these rights and we honor them in the same way for everyone.
EU residents may complain to the Data Protection Commission in Ireland; UK residents to the ICO; others to your local authority. We would rather you write to us first, and we will fix it.
Not a diagnosis
See Your Line and the Above the Line Review are self-reflection tools built from 26 years of advising leaders. They are a lens, not a diagnosis. Nothing on this site is medical, psychological or financial advice.
Children
This site is for leaders of businesses. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
